Lemon Garlic Pasta

Lemon Garlic Pasta

Lemon Garlic Pasta with red pepper flakes is the perfect meal for kids or side dish for entertaining and not to mention, the perfect meal to make in a pinch because you usually have all the ingredients on hand.  I've grown to love lemons in my finer age but I've also learn to appreciate how important they are to maintaining good health.  When I think of lemons, I think tart, cleansing and acidic. But did you know that lemons are alkaline forming in the body and help restore our body's natural pH? They are so amazing for your liver (natural detox), gut (help fight against bacterial growth) and a ridiculous amount of vitamin C. So, when cooking for the family getting a squeeze of lemon here and there is a great addition. My kids gobble this recipe up, minus the red pepper flakes, but if you are having guests over and use this recipe, definitely add the red pepper flakes for taste and beauty when serving!

  • 1 lg lemon
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup olive oil (nothing fancy just your regular cooking olive oil)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (if you have a fancier kind)
  • 2 tsps flaked sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 6 portions fresh pasta (or dried depending on what you have)
  • 2 tbsp white wine (what ever you have in the fridge)
  1. cook pasta to the directions or your liking

  2. finely chop the 6 cloves of garlic

  3. in a large sauce pan at medium heat add 1/2 cup cooking olive oil, chopped garlic, 1 tsp sea salt and pepper

  4. saute the garlic in the olive oil on medium heat until slightly brown (roughly 4-5 mins)

  5. add white wine and squeeze half the lemon and simmer on a low heat for 8-10 mins

  6. add pasta into your sauce pan and toss till pasta is covered

  7. add in the additional "good" olive oil and squeeze the other half of your lemon over the pasta

  8. If you are adding the red pepper flakes, add now and toss all the pasta

  9. Keep on the lowest heat until fully tossed and serve
