Feeding a family ALL THE TIME can be daunting. What’s even more daunting is the food we sometimes waste. We don’t waste it because we are not organized (okay, well maybe sometimes) but mostly we waste it because “life” happened. What we were supposed to make for dinner on Tuesday night didn’t happen because you ran out of time, someone was sick or you ended up ordering in, this is life. It’s a constant challenge and we can’t be perfect at managing our fridges and pantries all the time.
A wonderful group of women came up with amazing, easy recipes to help with this vary problem. These ideas are simple and you probably have these foods in your kitchen right now. It’s impossible to get through a week as planned, you know it and I know it, enjoy these nuggets!
My simple and easy #NoWasteRecipe are these amazing croutons. It’s the perfect way to use up stale or almost stale bread and they add the most perfect crunch to any salad. I also find one of my daughters consistently sneaking them for a crunchy snack. They take no time to bake and are way better than any store bought croutons, not to mention the money you saved and the waste that is no longer!
- 6 cups cubed bread (hopefully stale!)
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/3 cup olive oil (or oil of choice)
Preheat oven to 375 F
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl unitl bread is completely covered.
Spread bread mixture on to a pan lined with parchment paper, don't crowd the bread too much.
Bake at 375 F for 10-12 mins depending on your oven and your love of crunchiness!
